September 11, 2011 marks the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks that took so many lives across the nation.

The town has given a great deal of thought on how best to show our respect to all those affected by this horrible day in our history. From the experiences gained from our own tragedy on April 16, we have learned that everyone grieves and remembers in different ways.

On September 11, 2011 American Flags will be flown on Main Street in our downtown. We do this out of solemn respect for the victims of that day. I urge all citizens of Blacksburg to remember these individuals in your own way by attending services of your choice, spending time with family, or a simple moment of silence in honor of all those who gave so much.
