Gobblerfest was held again yesterday, August 26. This welcome back to students continues to be well attended. In fact, I think these were the largest crowds ever!

Senator Mark Warner joined me, Vice President for Student Affairs Ed Spence and President Charles Steger in greeting students as we walked down College Avenue and then issued a formal greeting on Henderson Lawn. Dr. Spencer and I judged a wing eating contest with Senator Warner’s help.

Gobblerfest is one of the many ways the University and the Town cooperate to bring our community together. Student organizations line College and Draper with tables and new students as well as returning students are able to learn what is offered for them, both on and off campus. New Students get to know downtown and interact with residents. Old friends can reconnect.

Gobblerfest 2011 is behind us. I look forward to Gobblerfest 2012.
