Oh no! Now our secret is out! A few things they failed to mention in the article which also makes Blacksburg a great place to raise kids:
1. The diversity. In my child’s class, he has students from Sweden, Poland, Mexico, India and China. These children are multi-lingual and teach the other s about their culture each day.
2. They play. The kids don’t come home and watch tv or play video games. They go outside and run and built forts and make up games. We don’t have to schedule “play dates” here…our kids just go knock on their friend’s doors if they want to play.
3. The public transportation system. It’s better than most large cities (and a lot less expensive).
Of course, I could go on and on…but this is your blog, not mine
Our little town takes a lot of criticism for being the kind of place that out citizens and community have made it. All in all, I’m glad to have another nice feather for our cap. Now let’s all keep working!
As I promised, I would not censor any response that did not use inappropriate language. I did not say they had to show a whole lot of class. If Mr. Biggums would care to add a reason why he thinks this is so, I would be happy to approve – if appropriate Language is used.
Great place to raise kids but one of the most boring cities i have ever been to and honestly i felt a lot of violence from the college students when i lived on Roanoke street. I was harassed on a daily basis and left the area. Since leaving i’ve found people in larger cities tend to mind their business better. Not trying to be rude just telling my experience when living in Blacksburg.
